Chapter Thirteen

Rose missed Giselle. She figured it was due to her work schedule and other factors, but the fact that Rose hadn’t heard from Giselle for a couple of weeks worried her.

Did Giselle hate her? Did the last time tear them apart? Was it right? Rose wanted to find out the truth, and when she got the answer, she hoped it would be one that she liked.

Rose told Giselle she was free. Her mother had been distant too, off with this person she was seeing. Rose desperately wondered who stole her mother's heart since it was a first. Then again, Rose had her own secrets. When she heard the knock at the door, Rose rushed there, and when she opened the door, she saw Giselle smiling.

"Hey!” Rose said.

"Hey. Sorry for being so distant. I was thinking about things, and work has been a nightmare,” Giselle admitted.

"No, you're wonderful. Trust me. It's just...nice to have you back," Rose said, embracing Giselle. Giselle hugged her back, and they stayed locked in an embrace for a bit.

"Is it okay if I come in so we can talk? I think it’s important we catch up.”

"Yeah, come on in. Mom is off somewhere with her new partner. I'm a bit confused on it myself because my mom never gets like this, but at the same time, I think it's nice that she's happy," Rose admitted.

"Same here,” Giselle said.

Rose looked at Giselle, and there was worry on her face.

"You okay?” Rose asked, her voice filled with worry.

"Yeah. Let's sit down, Rose. I'll explain everything," Giselle said.

Rose nodded, utterly unsure of what to say next. Rose sat down on the couch. Giselle sat next to her, and for a moment neither of them said anything. Then, Giselle broke the uncomfortable silence.

"Well, I haven’t been talking much because I’ve felt guilty. I didn’t know what to do about Ricky because I didn’t like him, but I didn't want to lead him on, and I didn’t want to lead you on either,” Giselle said.

Rose nodded, understanding what Giselle was saying. "Yeah. I figured. So what happened to him? Ricky, that is. You're not going to leave, right?" Rose asked.

That was the one fear that Rose had. That Rose would be left in the dust, and that Giselle would choose money over everything else.

But, Giselle smiled.

"You’re going to have to do a whole lot more to make me leave, pretty woman,” Giselle said with a smirk.

Rose couldn't believe it! She thought that Giselle would be gone forever at that point. But here Giselle was, smiling warmly and holding her hand.

“Ricky was actually at the office tonight. I wanted to meet up with him to clear the air once and for all. I told him the truth that I didn't want to be with him. I felt like it was too forced, and something my dad was doing to make me feel better. He honestly agreed, which surprised me. He told me that he felt the same way. He even agreed it was too forced," Giselle admitted.
